15 Random Questions Tag!

Hey guys! I thought it would be neat to post a fun little questions tag, so that you can learn a little bit more about me! So here we go with the 15 random questions tag...

1. What’s a nickname only your family calls you?
Tayls is actually a nickname my sister calls me by, so thats where I got the 'HeyTayls' name from!

2. What's a weird habit of yours?
I can't think of any weird habits of mine right now.. but I'm sure there are some haha.
Do you have any weird phobias?
I'm terrified of stink bugs. I would say this is a weird one mainly because stink bugs are actually harmless, but for some reason I freak out when I see one.

What’s a song you secretly love to blast & belt out when you’re alone?
There's a few, some are : Send Me On My Way- Rusted Root, Breath of Life- Florence + The Machine, Nothing Left to Say- Imagine Dragons, and The Walker- Fitz & The Tantrums.

What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
I absolutely hate when people text and drive. I think its one of the dumbest decisions anyone could make.

What's one of your nervous habits?
I fidget with my hands when I'm nervous. I just find myself messing with something, whether it be my fingers, my phone, my hair, etc.

What side of the bed do you sleep on?
I switch it up all the time. It's actually a common question every night between my boyfriend and I on which side do we want.

What was your first stuffed animal, and it's name?
It was a puppy with pink polka dots from 102 Dalmatians, and her name was Oddball.

What’s the drink you always order at Starbucks?
White chocolate mocha frappuccino. This was the firs drink I ever got at Starbucks, and every time I try to venture out, I don't like it as much as I do this drink.
What’s the beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice?
Hmm.. I think I would say that a beauty rule I believe in but don't keep up with as much is having my nails done. I go through cycles of keeping up with my nails & not. I think that its an easy way to look put together, but I often find myself with either chipped nail polish, or none at all.. oops!

Which way do you face in the shower?
Both.

Do you have any weird body skills?
I can lick my elbow... seriously!

What is your favorite comfort food that is "bad", but you eat it anyways?
Like... every comfort food out there! Haha, but my favorite is probably cookies or some other type of sweets.

What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
"Awesome sauce!"

Time to sleep! What are you actually wearing?
A comfy old tee, and pj shorts.

Goals Update: Decorating For Halloween ☠

Hello lovlies! It's October 19th and that means there is 12 days until Halloween! I can't believe how quickly October has flown by. Although this post may be a little over due, I finally decorated for the season! This was a goal I had for October, and I really enjoyed it! Check out the pictures below to see how I decorated my room for Halloween/fall :)

One of my favorite things about fall is the scents! Going from fruity, beachy summer candles to warm, spice scented candles is a refreshing transition. Candles are one of the best ways to get the cozy fall feeling, and 'Leaves' is one of my favorite candle scents of all time! This candle is from Bath & Body Works, and is a popular favorite that comes back yearly. It is described as "featuring notes of golden nectar, ripe delicious apple, and red berries." Surprisingly, I didn't care for the smell of this candle when I first smelled it, but now I have come to absolutely love it & it is a staple when decorating for fall.

Now for the Halloween decorations! I recently went on a trip to Walmart to look through their Halloween section, and actually came across some great decorations. I found this string of pumpkin lights & thought they were the cutest! I already have strings of lights around my room so I figured these would be awesome, and would add a perfect splash of Halloween. The pack I got was $5, came with 10 pumpkin lights, and is about 6 ft long.

The next thing I picked up at Walmart was a pack of glittery spiders! I loved that these spiders were covered in black glitter! It added a cute feel to a 'scary' decoration. I thought it would be cool to have them climbing up my wall, so I used press-in-place door & window caulk. This stuff is great for hanging objects like this on your wall because you can pull off a much as you need, shape it how you need, & it doesn't take the paint off your walls. These spiders could be used to decorate is many different ways! You could put them in some fake spider webs, near some food bowls if you're having a party, etc. The pack came with 8 spiders and I think it was about 2 or 3 dollars.

Then I got some decoration for my bedroom door. Again, I got it from Walmart, but this caution tape can be found almost anywhere during Halloween. I think that this is just classic Halloween decoration, and its super cheap & easy to hang up. I got 20 feet of tape for 97¢.

And finally, I have my favorite decoration that I got this season! I got this lil guy at Michaels craft store, and he was about $14. I thought this was so cute, and couldn't possibly leave the store without it! This is another decoration that screams classic Halloween to me. To add a little color & spunk, I added a ribbon bow. I got this trick or treat ribbon at Michaels as well, for $1. I also got the glittery fall leaves that are around the cat at Michaels for about $2.

So that's it for this post! I really enjoyed decorating my room for Halloween/fall! This is the first year that I bought festive decorations for my room and it really put me in the Halloween spirit. Although October goes by in the blink of an eye, I think putting up decorations helps make the Halloween feeling last a little longer. Being able to see the festive decorations everyday reminds you of the holiday, and I think it inspires the Halloween spirit. I'm really glad that I set this as a goal for the month :)

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and got some inspiration! Let me know your thoughts in the comments & if you have any Halloween/fall decorations I would love to see your pictures so leave your links as well!
Thanks for reading!

Goals Update: Finding New Music ♫

Hi guys! So, the first goal I completed was finding new music. Below are 6 songs that I recently found and fell in love with. I feel like its a good variety of new tunes to take a listen to. So check out my new music obsessions below & tell me what you think!

Budapest - George Ezra

All Comes Down - Kodaline

Little Do You Know - Alex & Sierra

Reverse - SomeKindaWonderful

Warriors - Imagine Dragons

The sixth song is (of course) Out Of The Woods by Taylor Swift, which was released today (I'll update the post when the YouTube video becomes available).

So there is the list of new music I've been loving lately! Finding new music is always fun, and having this as a goal made it more so. Instead of just stumbling upon a new song, I purposefully went looking for new music. If you missed my monthly goal post you can find that here! That's all for this post, I'd love to hear what you think of this selection of music, so let me know in the comments or on my twitter! Thanks for reading :)

Monthly Goals: October

Hey everyone!
Since the month is still fairly new, I thought I would start a post on my monthly goals. Each month I'll post a list of about 10 goals that I hope to complete that month. The goals can be anything! Sometimes they may repeat in other months, but mostly they will be focused around the season. I'll write a post every time I complete a goal until I have finished the list :)

I think this is a great way to be productive, and get things done that you've been telling yourself you'll do. By writing down your goals you're more likely to be motivated to accomplish them. I feel like a month is a great time frame to give yourself to complete set of goals. It is a realistic amount of time, so that you're more likely to finish all of the goals! Its always a rewarding feeling to be able to cross off everything on your list.

So, here are my 10 goals for this month:

- Read a book (I'll be repeating this one every month)
- Bake more
- Make at least one piece of art
- Get up early for morning yoga
- Take more walks while the weather is still nice
- Find new music
- Decorate for the season
- Post more on my blog
- Do more nature photography
- Stay on a good budget

While these goals are specific to me, I hope that you guys find inspiration from this post to make your own monthly goals list!
I'm so excited to start accomplishing these goals & writing about it!

DIY fall-inspired cork board! ♡

Hello October!
It's the beginning of one of the best months. Filled with beautiful colors, smells, and festivities, October is a super fun and inspiring time of year. I figured what better way to kick off this month (and my new blog) than with a fun and simple DIY post that will add a splash of autumn to your bedroom or office space. So read below to learn how to create this cute piece!

What you'll need:
- A cork board (can be any size or shape! I got this square sheet in a multipack from Office Depot)
- A paint brush
- Roll of Scotch blue tape
- Acrylic paint

To get started, arrange the blue tape on the cork board in any pattern you like. I chose this chevron pattern. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect! I eyeballed this and did it the way I thought looked best.

Once you've got your tape where you want it, its time to start painting! Since this piece is fall-inspired I chose red, orange and yellow to paint with.

Continue with your colors as you like, I'm going for an ombre/rainbow effect.

Tip: As you're painting, make sure you tape is pressed firmly onto the cork board for a clean edge!

And you're almost done! Put on any finishing touches of paint before removing the blue tape.

Tip: If you want a more opaque color, dab the paint on parts where some of the original cork board peeks through.

The final step is to peel off your blue tape! Its best to take the blue tape off after the paint is dry, so be sure to let it sit for about an hour.

And voilĂ ! There you have your fall festive, spruced up cork board!

I think this DIY is a fun, simple, and festive way to get the fall season started. It adds a nice pop of autumn color to any space, and also serves as a functional piece! A cork board can help you stay organized and inspired! Put up your to-dos lists, inspiring quotes, fun pictures, and reminders for yourself. You can hang it up, or have it lean against your wall on a desk. This DIY is super versatile and allows for tons of creativity!

I hope you guys enjoyed this first post and draw some inspiration from it! If anyone decides to try it out, I'd love to see some pictures & would showcase them here on my blog!
Thanks so much for reading & have a lovely day :)
